    ... we give it another try, ask a couple of guys the direction to "Ginsan" and show them the map as well. They tell us "hidari" which means "left" and one of them makes a cross sign with his hands, meaning "no". Who to believe? We try one more time, but clearly there are no roads we could possibly have missed and we find ourselves on the closed off road again.....     ... Very convenient, you don't have to take a bus or a taxi after arriving by train. After checking in we stroll around in downtown Yamagato, a small town surrounded by mountains. Much to our surprise the Japanese restaurant at the hotel serves Shabu-Shabu which we happily order. The beautifully marbled meat is local Yamagato beef. At the end we get delicious local udon to put in the broth, quite a special dinner! Off to Ginzan Onsen, a small onsen village, ...

    ... and 2 nights on the Izu Peninsula. After 4 hours the machine is still not finished and we decide to go to the drugstore to get some shaving cream and other basics. When we return from the drugstore the light on the washing machine is still on and the machine can't be opened. The concierge sends someone up to help.     ... really early here - 4:30 a.m. and goes down at 6:30 p.m. They do not do daylight savings time here. The sun is very bright and beautiful.
