... by lunchtime and decided a walk in the afternoon would be a good idea so headed off up the aptly named Rishri-Fuji and in true rainy man style the storm clouds rolled in the sky went dark, temperature dropped to 9 degrees and it hammered down for the next three days, again it didn't matter as there was a woodburner in the guesthouse lounge area so I managed to burn about a quarter of their wood pile, evenings spent laughing with the staff over many many beers and ...

We decided to try the a Western breakfast this morning at the cafe on the 1st Floor. Robyn and Trevor were already there. We had the full breakfast. I opted for the omelette and Joseph had the fried eggs. We had soup, salad, toast, yoghurt, ham and sausages. Unfortunately, the omelette was too runny for me so Joseph had another helping of eggs.

Well the dinner was great and I was privileged to see the crew in a relaxed non uniformed environment. I got to see a lot of the crew I had not seen before from below deck. ... decks and windows to be able to see the animals very close or almost being in the middle of them. Unfortunately the animals were held alone, without pairs or groups, most of them mentally switched off, doing there endless rounds to have at least some escape from theri boredome.

Sad to see that this type of zoos still exist, we have zoos as well but very modern with motivated animals

Carried on to Asahikawa, where we have had another beer festival at the station. The weather was now definitely turing into rain. This ruined our plan to climb Asahidate an active volcano and we planned for next day another excursion

Thanks to the lady at the tourist information we found an excellent restaurant close by the hotel. Original Japanese food and we enjoyed very much
