Started at the Visitor Centre, conveniently located at the 'town centre' of Sounkyo Gorge. Our hotel, Sounkyo Choyotei, is a mere 2 min drive away. Parking is free at the large carpark at the visitor centre. The price of the rope way is 1850 yen per person for return. The rope way takes you up to the fifth station. Then following the bicycle trail, you would experience a cycling as it ought to be - with no traffic, pedestrians, or even other cyclists. With the alpine flora, cool summer Hokkaido breeze, the cycling experience is one of the best I have ever had, and probably will have for a long time to come.
