... clear the snow from my shoe and I got a bit bogged and off balance so landed in the snow. Where it is very soft, it was harder but most of the parts we walked were quite ok. Partway through we stopped for a hot drink and a biscuit. Our guide made a seat in the snow and gave us plastic sheets to sit on which kept a tiny bit of the chill out of the bottom. We wandered back around through the trees and out onto some white on white areas. The ...

Apparently it's the biggest season they have had in years where 9 meters of snow has already ...

We were back in the car, this time with skis tied on the top to find a special ski touring spot without lift access. With Siri-San programmed for Renge hot spring we headed up highway 148, through long tunnels and then as Siri-San says "in a short while" turned sharp right at the light, under the pink bridge and up up up. The snow banks ...

... outside in a rock pool onsen with the snow slowly billowing down. This onsen is by far the best we have visited. Feeling refreshed we headed out for a walk through the town. It's quite eerie walking the streets with minimal shops open and no one around. We figure everyone must be at work or school. Tasted lots of different sake at a distillery which also hosted some interesting art work. This afternoon some cheeky snow monkeys were Playing outside our window. ...
