De afgelopen dagen waren we dus in Nagano, 'hoofdstad van de Japanse alpen'. Een hele verandering: duidelijk minder gehaast dan tokio. Ook de temperatuur was omschakelen: waar we in Tokio nog in onze shirtjes rondliepen bij een graad of 20, is het hier rond de 10 graden, dus winterjassen aan. Today we went to a mountain area nearby to visit a waterfall and see (along with many other buses of Japanese tourists) the koyo, the wonderful shades of yellows, oranges, and reds that the trees have right now! The colours are so strong and varied that it is a really beautiful sight.

... br> In the guide book it says there were many shojin ryori restaturants near the Zenkoji temple so we headed there. It was dark and we almost needed fleeces! Up at the Temple, we couldn't see any Buddhist restaurants, but there were plenty of temples. The noise of the crickets was amazing.
