February 2005 TravelPod Newsletter

Luc, aka ”Lucky”
Hello all TravelPoders!

It’s Lucky again with the monthly newsletter.

( Check out the last newsletter: January Edition )

In February we were excited to receive a funky guided tour for the site. We think this will be an excellent introduction for people out there who might wonder what TravelPod is all about. We invite you to have a look, and share the clip with people you think might be interested. Special thanks go to liquidPearl Design Studio for their work and generous contribution to TravelPod.

We would also like to bring your attention to excerpts from an article that appeared in the Ottawa Citizen a few weeks ago. We were quite happy to see TravelPod get attention and we might say, recognition, in its own home town. While it is nice to claim a global presence, it is probably even more important to be well established and rooted locally.

Speaking of involvement, last month we put out a call for anyone who would be interested in taking an active a role with the TravelPod team. We were more than happy to receive a response from Bretch, who has a background in IT, and who was willing to give the Forums section some needed attention.

Ideally, this portion of the site would be a well established traveler resource center, where one could get precise and reliable information to queries. In a less formal way, it also serves as a great place to get ideas, exchange with fellow travelers, and take in the pulse of the community. We would like to see this section of the site evolve over time. As always, we welcome your suggestions.

Read on for more details.

Interview with a TravelPod Member

Last month we received some feedback from Mrs. Maggie Wood and decided to follow-up her comments with a series of correspondence. Her son and daughter-in-law have been traveling since October and family and friends back home have been keeping up with their travels via TravelPod. We are happy to share their story with you and take the opportunity to draw attention to a segment of their trip in Sri Lanka and their humble participation in local relief efforts.

While we were at it, we asked their "TravalPod Parent" some travel related questions. We share her answers with you.

More press this month… A nice article on the front page of the business section of a local paper in Ottawa and also a magazine called the Bottom Line Personal.

TravelPod Volunteers make a difference

A few months back we made a call out for some volunteers to pitch in and help the community out. The response was outstanding. Thanks! Again, we would like to welcome a new volunteer “Bretch” who will be adding new content to our forums.

Upgrades @ TravelPod

TravelPod recently underwent a major upgrade ( and relocation ) which was a great success. Your travelogue should now be 200%+ faster for your guests.

Enjoy!
