We were hoping to drive the 450k to Ayres Rock today but after talking to people last night we found out that the price of beer there was astronomical. As we had little beer on board we decided to go to one of the bottle shops in Alice before commencing our journey. Bad decision as the botle shops did not open until 2pm. At least it gave us time...

Spent a nice quiet night at Salt Creek rest area along with a couple of others. Well maintained spot , even had firewood supplied at the fireplaces! It is about 31k north of Erldunda, which is where the turn off to Uluru is.
