Settling in for the Winter
... the Marine Airforce is on the low end of the military totem pole in the US as most of the fighter planes are old Harrier Jets and F5's. They are noisy and fast so Gord and Don enjoy watching.
Every week there is a fair or market place to buy fresh veggies etc. From now until Christmas there are lots of events to help get you into the spirit. We will be attending some of them including a trip around Yuma to see the lights. Cactus and Palm tree decoration is a big thing here!

Being a tourist again

We managed to get in a short hike to some petroglyphs in the mountains to the northeast of the city. We did manage to follow the step by step directions which seems easier to understand when you are out walking it than trying to figure it out just reading it. Life inside a 10' box
... could watch in the evening. Numerous mines were established in this area and the most notable was King of Arizona Mine which gave the mountains their name... Kofa, from the King of Arizona. There is an interesting mine museum and lots of old mine shafts dotting the area. Palm Canyon is known for its native palms which are remnants from an era when the area was wetter and cooler. There are less than 100 palms that exist here and in one or two other groves around the state. ...
