... Coast Florida. As I am neither young or trendy and left school about a hundred years ago, a quick 15 minute drive through, stopping just to take a couple of photos was quite enough for me. Staying on the coast road passing through I almost continuous strip malls and crossing unnoticed the border into New South Wales I eventually came to Byron Bay, this is another surfing town but much more low key and charming than Surfers Paradise, it also gets very ...

From there to Coolangatta and Tweed Heads which join together on the border of Queensland and New South Wales.
Further on was the 7 mile beach near Lennox Head. We’re amazed at the size of these beaches. People there are sunbathing with no-one nearby to disturb them, There’s so much beach for everyone.
We passed through Ballina, and on towards Yamba. The roads are good, mainly single ...
... land in times of stormwater. We could see Yamba on the coast in the distance and an intriguing change from miles of sugar cane on the north side to miles of bush area to the south. Then on to 'Broom's Head'. En route we passed a field where wild emus wee feeding, stopping to warily eye us intruders. Farther along the road a big eagle was feeding on a roadkill kangaroo, disdainfully soaring off into the trees as we passed. Near the Head we walked along (another ...
Yamba, New South Wales, Australia harryandnorah... and 25 today, the st July. Hard to believe. We had a leisurely trip across to Iluka on the ferry and a beautiful walk along the water. The pathway headed straight to the pub! No, we didn't know this previously but had a nice lunch. All up the stay here was a lot of reading and walking. It is such a beautiful place as you can see from the photos. Out to dinner last night to a great Italian restaurant, and also had aftenoon drinks at the Pacific ...
Yamba, New South Wales, Australia madnomads... breakfast, we would throw out ideas for what to do with the day and start those activities at our leisure. In the few days we had, we built a semi-permanent shelter using only a machete, painted and learned to throw boomerangs, made necklaces from shell and tree bark, threw spears, carved kitchen utensils, cooked traditional bread over an open fire, went fishing, and hiked through ancient aboriginal lands. When ...
Evans Head, Australia ninasherburne... Jez - the Pink Floyd moments were legendary). After a few bites to eat in the town, we went to an "alternative" botanical garden - basically a collection of wild growing trees and bushes and plants with some American dude living in a wooden hut in the middle. We tried various wild (and weird) fruits, and admired the random children's toys dotted around the place. Strange....... Interestingly, we saw loads of Daytura Plants - plants that are way ...
Byron Bay, Australia jules27... flowing very near each other, so you get to see both types of fish. Warm water and cold water fish. It was a pity it had to end. And I can't wait to do it again. We got back on the boat and drove back to the shore. I spent the afternoon at the beach and that night Wouter and I went out to the rails bar, which plays live music every night. And course for out last night in good old Byron we went to Cheeky Monkeys for another night of dancing on tables.
Byron Bay, Australia ger1... forgotton as Ben Harpers slot rapidly approached! Ben Harper was fantastic and he even invited Jack Johnson on stage for the last song. Anyone who knows my music taste will know I was ecstatic!
The next day was spent nursing a small hangover.. and walking round and about Byron and Cape Byron. Saw some hang gliders getting endless air time over the hills.

Byron Bay, Australia yoli... in the van to back out of the tree we were under because there was a giant tarantula sized spider, hanging above our heads. My leg was stinging like a jellyfish sting and after a few minutes had gone completely numb - jesus, what a first night, poor Paula had to inspect my bare ass to check what had bitten me and "ass"ess the damage!! The next morning we packed up and headed for Forster, where again we struggled to get a campsite and ended up ...
