... back to the Maglev - the high speed train between Pudong and downtown Shanghai! For 50 Yuan each, we all took this train to meet our bus driver in Shanghai. This was a little treat arranged by our tour guide (surprise number two for the day). Our train went 301 kilo/per/hour or about 180 miles per hour. It was pretty cool because it actually seems to twist on its side when getting into the city. It's more like an amusement park ride. It ...

... No souvenirs were sold here but rather a variety of snacks and food. There were banana leaf wrapped treats, rice, potatoes, corn, and beans. We did not sample the food but were impressed with the scenery, the simplicity of the market, and wondered what the villages looked like. They were in a room a few doors down and ...

... lived; in order to explain it, I just say, "where the 76ers play". That's the only way to do it here, because only a few know Pennsylvania, even in Chinese. We conversed a lot, the most practice I had in a long time. Occasionally, I looked to Zhang Xu for easier Chongqing dialect, seeing as he knows me better. We all joked around, and the man who calls himself "friend" (in both languages) cheers-ed like a madman. Every time I got cheers-ed, I took a massive swig out of a massive bottle ...

    ... and headed home.

Unfortunately, the process of getting to Kelsey and Nick's apartments was quite difficult. Since they're new, they don't exactly know where they live. They simply gave me the instructions that they lived at a college...called "Chongqing University", which happens to be the name of 4 colleges. Luckily, they knew that they got off at the "Daxuecheng" metro stop, so I told the taxi driver to take us there, and from the metro stop they'd give me ...
