... Jeep and get on the road again. It's a really short drive (in North American terms) to get to Niagara Falls from Toronto. Just over an hour. We've just parked at the hotel and went for a wander as we can't check in until 4pm. It's beautiful weather and the falls are breathtaking. As I write this, we are sat on a park bench looking over at Niagara Falls. Even though we're a good distance away, there is still a gentle spray from the falls which is refreshing in the heat.

This trip to Niagara proved to be quite different to the last. For a start the weather was amazing - the sunshine made rainbows in the mist off the falls, and it turned out to be quite a warm day. The group was so large that it was hard to keep track of everyone among the crowds, and we lost each other at various points during the day. We found ...

We were up at 6:30am to get ready for the Marathon. We bused over to the States for the start and were stopped at passport control as everyone's passports needed checking. We had to buy a 'waiver of visa' for US $6. However the passport officials at the race number pickup hadn't informed us about this. We only had Canadian dollars and no Credit Cards. The reacting from the US official was simply 'you have to pay'. To add further stress the bus we were on simply left ...

... area and across the other side is Fort George. Time is getting late met some people from before and they just did a tour and said it takes over an hour or so. We decided to come back tomorrow to do the tour and see Niagara-on-the-Lake as I realised this morning we needed more bread so Jill directed us in a round of about way via QEW Hwy to Walmart. While there got some more corn and pineapple plus Richard said he needed ...

... made its way through the tunnels and the Bronx and out of New York City. We headed north up alongside the Hudson River stopping to pick up people at the towns of Poughkeepsie, Hudson, Albany and a few others. Up past Albany, the Hudson River joins up with the Mohawk River and we continued tracking along next to it stopping at towns with some weird names which I can only assume originated from the Native Americans, eg. Schenectady and Utica. We ground ...
