After a relaxing morning, Charlie and I went on a fairly unproductive search for a nearby walk for Maggie-- the closest park (San Antonio, a few blocks away) is closed to dogs. We ended up walking her in the neighborhood, which is fine but there are MANY neighborhood dogs, so she hears a lot of barking. We later left her at the house while we went to pick up a few groceries at Farmer Joe's-- nice but small organic food store. Charlie went to pick ...

... a place called Gordo, which was just a shop, restaurant (that was closed) and a lodge on the highway-a cabin there was $150 so we decided to drive another 12 miles to the next tiny town (Lucia) but the room was $195! However, their restaurant was open (albeit expensive) so we ate there and slept in the car. Found out later that the lodge was in fact 'Lucia Lodge' which looks very fancy on the website so no wonder we couldn't afford it!

There weren't many people around, but those that were, looked off their tits, and not in a good way. Which added to the general sense of menace. This neighbourhood is known ...

The interesting thing about the Ferry is it is primarily powered by solar panels and wind generators. The informative signs around the boat explained how the power is generated and stored and you get to see the power generation and 'output' on the instrumentation panels on each deck.

... first stop was a place called Jacuzzi which was founded by a bunch of brothers. Feeling much merrier after a few glasses of wine (they are quite generous with the 'tastings'), Adam chatted up the bar lady (Alex and Mark - you know what I'm talking about) and we got a free wine & chocolate shot - the first advantage we have secured thus far for being on our honeymoon. Apparently telling everyone means nothing! We also stopped at a nice winery ...
