Merci, bonsoir.
... teller, telling us about the history of the area.
One story was about a 9 year old blue eyed blond captured by the Comanche. She ended up marrying a chief and had a son who became chief. In her later life she was captured by the US army but escaped back to another tribe as she only knew life as an Indian. When she died they buried her in a cemetery, later her son ...
... a 18 ounce steak and that was plenty. They had a shooting gallery and a giant rocking chair. Susie and I orded a piece of choclate cake , it could feed a whole army!!!!. The guy we saw try to eat the steak meal in one hour, didnt make it. Not only do you have to eat the steak but 3 shrimp, salad, bake potatoe, roll , and you can drink all the water you want to get it down, It opened in 1960 and has been running ever since , we heard about it on the ravel chanell
... in service centers during our first year of ownership with this coach. That should be enough to keep him from pulling out the 'ole checkbook!
But, Ken says he gets to shop for coaches none the less. Some friends of ours our looking for a coach and he is keeping an 'eye' out. He says he gets to shop by proxy because technically its going to be someone else's money.n Hhhhhmmmmmmmm, sounds fishy to me.
... been really good about getting up in the morning and getting moving but the need for sleep caught up with me. We did manage to pickup 4 geocaches between rest areas and Cadillac ranch. We got to Cadillac Ranch just as the cold front was moving through the area and lightening was starting to be visible in the distance. So it was a short stop and then off for supper ...
Amarillo, Texas, United States kayaker902... short distance from our campground. The Ranch is open 24/7 and visitors are encouraged to add their grafitti to the 'art'. Surprisingly, the Ranch gets up to 1500 car loads of visitors a day - included in this number was Ken & I today! Enjoy the pictures....
Amarillo, Texas, United States thesairs... the campground we are staying at has a 3 day special, pay for two and get the third free. It came to $13.33 a night. Thats a nice cement pad, wide spaces with 50 amp. Plus, if you call now, oh wait thats a TV commercial. They allow you to wash the coach (that means Ken with a little help) and the whole thing includes free laundry. The Spa is just an added bonus.
Amarillo, Texas, United States thesairs... s a steakhouse here that has billboards all along the highway offering "Free 72 oz steak". The catch is though you have to eat the 72 ounce steak (about 2kg) with all the sides in under an hour to get it free, otherwise it costs $50! Matt tried it the last time he was in America and failed dismally, so I think we'll give that a miss.
Amarillo, Texas, United States mattcollChris worked until noon (while I repacked the few things we had taken out from the night before). We managed (with some difficulty) to find the local Costco to gas up, and I asked one of the employees there for a recommendation for lunch--preferably something along the lines of tacos. After much discussion, we were sent about a mile away (though even more ...
Amarillo, Texas, United States lisajagminThe bus ride was pretty bad. It was a 25-hour monstrosity over 1,118 miles, across five states and through three time zones, but in the end, it was worth it not to have spent much money traveling so far.
Some of the things that made the trip interesting:
- A guy asking me what New Zealand b*****s were like (I couldn't think of an answer because I was trying not to laugh).
- The Greyhound people ...
