We arrived 4 hours+ late to Denver. Again no real apology from AMTRAK- Maggie has a saying of the Americans that they use "Aggressive politeness" and this has sooo become our byword for what you get in these circumstances. Statement of fact in cartoon rigid speech which allows no reply or questioning - very polite but no explanation or the sorry word.

It actually suited us as we were supposed to be there at 0600 and managed to sleep till 0800.

Visit to the Denver Mint

Brian took today off and he, Dad and I went out for lunch and then for a tour of the Denver Mint, "the only place the Federal government makes sense...er, cents. 32 million coins per day, 22 million of them are pennies. We learned that the Mint is self sustaining, not part of the Federal budget, and its surplus is applied directly to the Federal deficit. The most profitable coin is the quarter which costs 10 cents to make. So if you can get people to hoard ...

... flew in from Montreal to come ride and hang with me for a few days. We had a great time and rode some truly wicked roads and mountains. Thanks for coming out Phil and putting an emphatic exclamation point on this epic trip. To all who have read and followed along, and perhaps lived a bit vicariously through my adventures and misadventures, I thank you for being there. Now get out there and travel! Peace and love ...

The British Airways Experience

I was pretty excited when I got on the plane and saw that I got my own little TV in the seat back. I also had an empty seat next to me. Sadly, I did not have the whole row like the woman next to me. Being able to choose your own movies definitely made the trip go by faster. Couldn't sleep though, my legs kept going numb. Which, by the way, seems like a silly description since numbness would indicate no feeling and therefore, should not be a bother.

Stranahan's - A Denver Distillery

I am always looking for new and different things to do in
Denver. I’ve been to many breweries and on a few brewery tours but not on a distillery
tour in Colorado. As well as being near the top in number of microbreweries of
any state and having a significant wine industry on the Western Slope, Colorado
is now near the top of the list in number of small distilleries. I guess
Coloradans just like booze!
