    ... At one point, we even saw a deer of some sort standing right by the roadside... slight, with a white bum and rather large ears. We have seen very little wildlife so far, but I guess the sensible ones would not stray down to the road but stay hidden high up in the mountains.

    This slowly gave way to a flatter land where the cactus is king. The hillsides became less steep and more desert-like, with cacti of all different sorts, including the tall ones ...

    ... which gave it a real cool feeling to it, because he always had some stories on how it was in the old days here. So 5 hours later we are quite informed about the Titan II missile and saw really everything you could have a look at.

      We were very fortunate to have Linda - our own personal tour guide extraordinaire who grew up in this area. First we visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. It covers 21 acres with 2 miles of walking paths (which we did not cover as it was really hot (90 Fahrenheit or 33 Celsius in the shade). It was a really interesting fascinating place, as we had no knowledge of desert environments . Most of the exhibits are living exhibits simulating natural habitats and the interrelationships ...

    I don't think I've mentioned it, but Lynn got a new Nexus 10 Android tablet for her birthday/Christmas. She's enjoying it and we're both learning the ins and outs of tablature.
