Today was brighter, albeit with some rain later on, and the town was on the beach. With the tide out, it is a vast expanse of sand. But then, this is America, where everything's bigger. Including the hangover I had from last night. It sounds like it should be in a Lonnie Donegan song, and if you sing it to Rock Island Line then it works. It does have a mighty big beach, at least with the ride out. Today was mercifully sunny, a great day to travel in, and we came through Clatsop state forest and then another, stopping at the rest stop in the TillyMoo-sorry, Tillamook-state forest. ... but it kept disappearing in the fog, but we finally got a couple of shots. We found my favorite seafood place Mo's and had a great lunch. I had Slumgullian which was Clam Chowder, as only Mo's can make (secret ingredient is bacon), and they added baby shrimp to make it Slumgullian. My NEW favorite food. It was a overcast day, to hit the beach and checkout the famous Cannon Beach and its well-known landmark, Haystack Rock (235-foot high or 72-meters), but here goes! The Rock was formed by lava flows emanating from the Grand Ronde Mountains 10 to 17 million years ago. It once joined to the coastline but years of erosion have since separated the monolith from the coast.
