Home at Last!

We made it back home safe and sound! We would like to thank all of the students and parents for making this incredible experience possible. The students were exceptionally behaved. We coudn't have asked to have traveled with a better bunch of kids! This was an experience we will remember and cherish for the rest of our lives!

Trip to a different world, the difference is Macau

... to pick him up while I wait for my brother to board the plane. "Tito, just buy me a pair of converse shoes," Geo told me with a sad long face. Luckily, after talking to the immigration officer, he then softened and agreed to allow him to go with us since we are just going to Macau. I called them back, and my nephew was just the happiest person at that moment. His first time to ride a plane, to go abroad and to go to Disneyland. In Macau, we were met by my ...

Unless you count cooked rat as gross. Aside eating sleeping an teaching I've been increasing my obsession for Americas top crime drama Law and Order Special Victims Unit. It's trash terrible, addictive entertaining trash. God bless the internet. As I said I have been into the city a few times ...

Macau Marathon 2007

... no spectators, no cheering, nothing but total silence!!! It was AWFUL!!! As I crossed the finish line, I was handed a t-shirt, a towel, some food and water and shown the exit. I soon found out from Liz and Judith that they tried to get in to the stadium, but weren't allowed in. It sure was good to see their familiar faces after such a letdown finish!! The only good part of the Macau Marathon was my recovery. After we went back to the hotel and I ...

... still having problems with my breathing. At this point, I was starting to get a little worried that I hadn't been able to acclimatize to the altitude after a week. The bus to Lijiang was five hours, and I sat in the back of the bus with my eyes closed, listening to my music. At one point, I opened my eyes just in time to see the guy next to me lifting his head up with drool coming out of his mouth. I was too afraid to look and see what was on the floor beneath ...

Leaving Shenzhen for Macau

... our luggage at the ferry terminal coz we don't have a hotel room yet. First sight that greeted us outside the terminal was salted fish being hanged outside of shops. Am I still in China?! (Technically speaking, I am but culturally speaking, I should not be.) Was v disappointed!!! Using "Lonely Planet" we walked to where we think is the town centre. We were right. And we decided to find a hotel to put our stuff first. So we decided to look for the tourist information centre ...

Look out Vegas!

... here is really strange...many signs are in Chinese and Portuguese (despite the fact that less than 1% of the population actually speaks Portuguese), there are huge old cathedrals everywhere with the religious practice influenced by other faiths that are common in China, and chorizo and beans are popular ingredients in many otherwise Chinese-style dishes. We splurged a bit and stayed in a really nice hotel that was built into an old ...

... beverages and entertainment shows with good-looking girls and boys. The Chinese casinos were tightasses apparently and gave you nothing for taking your money (the immorality of it). Our kind bus-driver informed us when to get off and within a 5 minute walk we were at the sands. Unfortunately we had to give up our 500 ml bottle of water at the door but we made up for it by getting stuck into the free orange juice, water and tea (which Richard initially and ...
