OK, so "departure day" is here!
All our planning (read "Jan's" planning!) comes to fruition. The UK elements are pretty well in place. Will be fantastic to catch up with "old" friends and family, as well as see some of the sights. The place would have changed since Jan was last in the UK (1968)!
Although the flying part of the journey is never inspiring, the thought of getting there is fantastic!
Also will be our first trial of premium economy (good seats, **** food!). ...
With only 6 odd weeks to departure.....we reviewed progress in the delightful surroundings of Level One at Hornsby RSL. Jan has done an excellent job of booking all the Italian aspects of the trip.... and we've had great help from friends John & Rosemary in North Weald as well as Jarrod and Alice who "toured" last year.
We still have the English part to finalise but, thus ...
I have returned to Sydney with a sense of futility, guilt and anger in the knowledge that the people I met, talked, shared and prayed with remain in what is often referred to as the corrosive cloud of uncertainty and fear- as a direct result of the "turn back the boats' what ever the cost either human or economic. ... our way back to the hotel and have a quiet afternoon.
As we are in Potts Point, we are also in the "Kings Cross" entertainment area. So for dinner we wander off amongst the people also wandering around, looking for inspiration.
To be honest, knowing that we would once again be having an early start tomorrow to fly back home, we settle for Mcdonalds before wandering back to the hotel.
... have to start from scratch, learn the new applications (luckily most things are dead similar and the computers are way faster), and because I am moving around all the time, I haven’t really met anyone that I’ve clicked with yet. When I started my last job at least I could go home to my family and tell them all about it but I can’t even do that. I really am completely alone out here and I have realised that I am so far away from home too. After work ...
