... Mackinac Fort, but decided to explore the island rather than go into the fort. It was so beautiful. We had a fabulous walk up hill (a novelty after living in flat Cayman) to Arch Rock and admired the view, then kept going to Sugar Loaf Rock which was the old water line (amazing) and then to Fort George. The views were absolutely stunning and the air had a cool breeze. After warming-up from the walk, I finally got rid of my jumper and was ...

We had commentary and went through the the forests then stopped at arch point for photos. We then continued stopping off at various points. We got off at the fort and walked the rest of ...

Its a beautiful 80 degrees! We're tempted to take one last cruise through the islands. But alas, our time is up for this season. Meander has been cleaned, unloaded, and is ready for a long winter's nap. Diane and Jeffrey have arrived to take us home, so off we go rolling down I-75.

We had a nice cruise covering 662 miles while visiting three Great Lakes. We spent ...

Today we crossed the Straits of Mackinac to the very small town of Hessel. Hessel is best known for it's antique boat show held here each year. It is also home to Mertaugh Boat Works that has heated indoor winter storage available for Meander. The cruise over was a fitting ending to our travels this late summer. The seas were calm and the skies were sunny. It is always bitter sweet taking the ...

        Mackinaw City

... in Lake Michigan and then went to Mackinaw City back on the Lake Huron side of the bridge.

It's been a long time since we were here (by car) and there seems to be even more fudge and t-shirt shops. There are also several small parks on the waterfront where one can take a postcard photo of the Mighty Mac. We did that even though we had taken lots of pics from the boat UNDER the bridge.
