In the early days of the lighthouse there were 3 lighthouse keepers who worked 4 hourly shifts overnight and worked during the day to maintain the grounds. Each night the keeper had to carry heavy bottles of kerosene up the stairs (all 176 of them) to keep the lanterns burning.       ... jumped on a tour bus Friday and did a 'Hits with kids' winery tour with friends Emma & Nick and their 2 kids Scarlet & Jack! It was fantastic. We visited four wineries including lunch at the Laurance Estate, we conquered the Ngilgi Cave which was 350 steps down underground and quite tight in some spots, we called into the Margaret River Chocolate Shop and then finished at the Cheeky Monkey Brewery that has a playground!!
