    ... miles from the Maine coast, we finally came out of the fog to a beautiful blue sky with a shore line of green spruce and golden rocks. We continued on to Bar Harbor but didn't get in until 5:30PM, so we couldn't clear customs. We found a town mooring for the night.     Highlights

    After a sleep in we managed to catch the 12.30 pm ferry. It was a hot, sunny day so the 10 mile journey across Lake Champlain was an extremely pleasant way to spend an hour.

    ... and it still falls apart. ) The fly started "spitting" water in heavy down pours. The rain fly is never tight, it sags, even using the guy lines. When it gets wet, the rain fly will touch the tent body, allowing condensation to run down the side of the body, into the UNSEALED seam by the tub....and into the tent. When you have to get out of the tent, the damn zipper on the rain fly catches the zipper cover and jams up....at least 3 out of 4 ...

    ... that section, we decided to go back to Hikers Welcome Hostel, to let my foot/knee rest for two days. We camped by the lake - gorgeous view, the fog rolling over the mountains & lake!!     ... We were surprised by a trail angel, Bill Ackerly - The ice cream man! - he gave us ice cream and hung out with us for a long while. Bill also beat us at croquet, of course it was the first time any of us played - so he had the upper hand :)......lol. He left for dinner, leaving us at his home...what an awesome guy!! Some Southbounders stayed at his place, we have to make miles, so it is off to the next big hill tonight :(. Made it to the road ...
