We are so lucky to have friends that invite us to ski at Waterville Valley. It's a really nice family focused resort about a 5 hour drive from New Canaan. The kids get on well and know the resort so well now that they ski or snow board together and then meet up with their slower parents at lunch or the end of the day.
After spending a few days in Chicago, my wife and I flew to Boston with American Airlines on Christmas Eve. We then picked up our rental car from Hertz to drive up to Bethlehem, NH where we would be staying for Christmas.

... maybe it's more reliable than some of the weather forecasts - like how many tropical storms and hurricanes we'll have during the summer months. Then again, everyone breathes a sigh of relief when there are fewer storms than expected which blessedly occurred this summer.
