    ... my phone back on, I found out that the Adelaide Crows coach- Phillip Hughes had been murdered by his son. So while I was wandering around the airport reading about this, I lost track of time and realised I had 20 mins to get to my gate before boarding! The airport is friggen Huge!!!! 13 hour flight Hong Kong to LA was horrible, couldn't sleep at all and was so confused with the time difference. Finally arrived in LA at 7.35am, ...

    ... to wait for a while which got a bit boring. But we finally got off the plane and went through the usual security and baggage claim. Then we went on a hertz bus to the hertz rental office where we picked up our car which took longer then checking out of the airport as we tried 3 cars and the last one was the best. This took until around 4 o'clock so we were all shattered especially mum. ...

    ... started to unravel. There were huge signs for public parking, one block back from the beach and attendants coaxing us in. I asked how much and he said $15. Seemed a little pricey but we were in Venice beach so what did I expect. We parked up and go to pay and he then says $20. $15 was for 3 hours! So after paying $20 he asks for our car keys to which I said no way, so he asks us to move the car to another space.
