Started the day in Chattanooga and went of to see the Chattanooga Choo Choo..very ordinary and the station wasnt a patch on Nashvilles Union Station. We then went up the Mountain where all the action is, fantastic views over the city and at some points you are able to see 7 States. Peter went to Ruby Falls which I think was a waterfall inside a …
... unique city. Even though I could feel the Midwestern country vibe going on it still felt as though I was back home. There is a big out door market area, lined with tons of restaurants and shops. The downtown center is a haven for local bands who come to play and entertain the city. I actually ended up hitching a ride from Colleen's which is thirty minutes away, a former hitchhiker who use to do it back in the 70's, picked me up within 20 ...
Day 1 - Friday night, we drove from spartanburg to gatlinburg and arrived at the river terrace. It was lightly snowing on our ride up and was it was still snowing when we got to gatlinburg. We got to our room and then went for a walk to get ice cream. We got back to our room for some nice fireside time and relaxing. Day 2 - Saturday we woke up late, had some pop tarts and researched for going to ober gatlinburg. After riding up ...
I've been unable to get access to the Inter-Web for these last few days as Jean hasn't got the service in her house so here I sit at the McDonald's in Clinton, TN for two hours while the girls shop the antique stores on Market Street in downtown Clinton. I've been here now for an hour or so, so it has allowed me to update the blog and get a bite to eat while they shop for those hidden treasures. I'm sitting here in the corner booth of McDonalds and if I keep my mouth shut, the ...
... was at work, so on Sunday we headed up to see Deborah's brother Jim who lives in Maynardville (about 1 hour northwest of Knoxville) with his wife Norma. It was really great to see Jim and his family again - he has a really nice set up and a man cave that anyone would be proud of - complete with his 3-wheel'd Can-Am motorcycle, 4X4, Bass Boat, Go-Cart to mention only a few. While we were in Jim's front parlour getting caught up - he proudly pulls out two, yes two guns that ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Vacation Lodge Motel Pigeon Forge
Clean and good price
i had been reading reviews on motels to decide where to stay that was clean and a good price. i stayed here one weekend becacause it was rated good on the internet and it was. i would defintley stay here again
The vacation lodge was alright
I did not like the fact that you had to share a balcony with someone else. It would have been alright if you shared it with somebody you know. I loved that you just had to walk right down the street and there was all kinds of stores and resturants and go karts!!I did not like that you had to pay for the ice. The main thing is that the people were friendly and that the rooms were clean!
Great place for the money and excellent location in the middle of everything.
Happy at Vacation Lodge.
We have been to Pigeon Forge, many times ,and always try to stay at Vacation Lodge . We feel very comfortable there, the rooms are clean, the service is great. And the people are friendly. We are looking forward to staying there this Spring, "God Bless you". Rev.Frank & Delores
This motel is great. It is clean and convenient.
We have stayed at the Vacation Lodge two times and we love it there. We would recommend it to anyone visiting Pigeon Forge. It has very clean rooms and the people are very friendly.
Wonderful Value and Clean
This is the best value in Tennesse. Family operatored means the claeanest rooms I have stayed in. Jst a block from Dollywood and the trolly stops at the front for easy town access. Just great.
For every trip to the Tennessee mountains I recommend the Vacation Lodge. The rooms are ALWAYS clean, the location could not be more convenient, and the staff is WONDERFUL. The rates are affordable, much more so than most, for the quality, and it is well lit (which means alot this day in time). Iwould like to say THANK YOU to the owners and staff for making our stay enjoyable.
We will be back!!
We normally stay in reasonably high priced Hotels because the rooms are generally nicer and the service up to par. However, family told us where they had made reservations in Pigeon Forge, and told us how reasonable the rates so we decided we'd give it a try. Boy, we were we surprised! We had been paying much too much in those other hotels! The Vacation Lodge is hands down the cleanest rooms we have ever stayed in and the staff the greatest!!! We will be back!
Nice but some problems
My husband and I recently chose to stay at Vacation Motor Lodge. For years visiting Pigeon Forge we had always passed by and saw people setting on the balconys watching the traffic so we finally decided we would be some of those people. I did not like the fact that we had to share the balcony with the room next door. We had to pay for the ice.
The in-room coffee pot still had leftover coffee in it when we checked in. The workers there were extremely friendly though.
Great place to stay!
For our summer vacations in Pigeon Forge, my family and I stay at the Vacation Lodge. This hotel is family owned and operated. The rooms are always clean, and the staff have always been very friendly and very helpful. It's directly across the street from the Food City, so we don't need to go far for groceries (we get rooms with the kitchenettes). It's also further down the parkway, so it's less traffic. The only drawback is since it's family owned, they do not offer discounts (not even AARP). However, I'd recommend this place to anyone!
