Shared shuttle rides are a great way to meet new and interesting people. On the way to the airport we picked up Sharna, who's an American archaeologist currently working in the Marshall Islands, and could be moving to Christchurch to take a role in a local archaeologist firm. Then we picked up the Hachs - possibly German I think. The Supershuttle driver was great, and heading off to Indonesia before the winter. He was running to time but our flight is delayed up to an hour. Need coffee ...

... to the willowbark wildlife reserve to see the NZ national icon, the kiwi! The park included lemurs, monkeys, a strange native pig, a tiny owl called 'morepork' and of course kiwis among other native animals. The two steers who did have names but we couldn’t remember them and as they were going to be dinner we named them ...

... I grew a pair to do this! 3. Frisbee Golf - IT WAS FREE If I was to do it again... 1. Do rafting at River Valley 2. Don't go to Milford 3. Spend more time in Wellington 4. Spend less time in Auckland 5. Eat more Ferg! My number 1 abiding memory of this trip though will be that of laughter and happiness. I have never laughed so much. Over absolutely anything. No one took themselves too seriously and everyone was wiling to give and take the banter that came about. It's so ...

... come to be sitting on a beach like discarded marbles. However, they are so weird and seemingly out of place that we prefer the Maori version. Local legend says the boulders are remains washed ashore from a giant sailing canoe that have turned into stone.

After a good time in, around and at times on the boulders we then moved on. We had a lot of distance to try to cover to get to Christchurch so it was just a case of drive, drive, drive. We got to the ...
