... 3 large casino resorts just shut their doors and turned people out. Harrahs had lights going on and off in the hotels, one of the hotels had no power, we lost power for a while at the RV park. Due to fluctuations in the power system, the fire alarms in the casino, apparently running on generator, kept going off. To lend an air of creepy to the whole thing, none of the parking lot lights were ...

... everyone put their chips in a sealed bag with a slip with their name and amounts on them. These bags are stored in the cage and come out the next day. There were sealed chip bags from four different "flights", or qualifier tournaments. There were 426 entrants into the tournament total, and today's finals started with the last 60 players. I started with 51,400 chips.....not a big stack by any standard. ...

... around. It's lush, green, and there are trees instead of scrub. The eastern U.S. is so different from the southwest. And since we made a fairly rapid transition from one to the other....it seems abrupt. We also noticed that out west...EVERYTHING in the motorhome is covered in dust. It's a very dusty place.

... on the trip counter, blasting, what else but, Rihanna's "Diamonds," which would become the song played every time we reached an additional thousand miles. We were hoping the trip counter would go past the 1,000 mile count, but anticlimactically we learned it reset to zero after each 1,000 miles. Real let down.

... people turn up to this lovely establishment to turn this parade into an unholy scrum for pictures of an event that is over in much less time than people wait to see happen. When we were there, people who had waited more than half an hour were being jostled by latecomers, and it was all a bit distasteful.

Much better to spend your time touring Sun Studio or the other museums in town such as Stax, or touring the Gibson guitar factory instead.
