Danach gings weiter …
Today after another wonderful, well deserved sleep in, we packed up our belongings and the car for our departure towards Los Angeles. Before leaving Australia, Ted bought a GPS specifically for the USA off eBay for this part of the holiday. Now we were going to put it to the test as we attempted to navigate our way to Los Angeles …
Eineinhalb Tage in L.A. sind vorbei.

We got a very good room and the man at the reception was very kind. The breakfast was disappointing because there aren't enough tables for all guests.

Historical Traveler Reviews Travelodge Santa Monica Pico Boulevard
Stayed in the Travelodge, Pico Boulevard a couple of years ago during the month of August. It was the perfect spot to tour Santa Monica, LA and the outskirts. It was cheap and cheerful, and "The Big Blue Bus" passed by it every day, which takes you anywhere around SM & Hollywood. The room was great, with a fine sized bathroom, with bath + shower. It had a seperate kitchenette with cooking facilities and a large fridge, table and chairs. The cost included a free buffet breakfast every morning, which was a great way to start the day. All in all I would definitely recommend the Travelodge to stay if you are going to Santa Monica. It doesn't have the frills and flounces of your luxury 5-star hotels, but it's the perfect spot if you plan on doing a lot of touring and don't want to spend a lot of money on accommodation if you are going to be out for the majority of the day anyway. I would definitely go back there, and hopefully will!
Great location - not for techies
We had a beautiful room in the courtyard area with a kitchenette. The location's is great, staff was courteous, and the free parking in this area is a big plus. The only thing that was not up to par was the electricity and internet/phone connection. We were there for three nights. We were jetlagged and were up at the wee hours. The wifi connection the hotel boasts, was not working, we had to wait till the AM for a technician to fix it. The next night we had no outside line to make calls. We used the microwave and it blew the fuse, as did the hair dryer. Maybe it was just our bad luck that day, but this hotel is not for techies that need to be connected 24/7. The staff was very apologetic and fixed everything as quick as they could.
Good location, reasonable price
We stayed here for 2 nights in late May/ early June 04 and found the hotel to be pleasant enough. The staff were friendly and when we lost our room key they did not charge us for it to be replaced.
The room was large and clean with aircon and they provide free continental breakfast - there wasn't huge choice but it was adequate for us.
The free parking was a real bonus and it the travelodge itself was a reasonable price for the area - it's fairly close to Hollywood/Universal Studios etc.
We stayed 2 nights in late May 2004. The hotel is clean and safe and there are 3 small lots with free parking, we never had problems getting a space. The rooms are clean and ours was small but surprisingly nicely divided, with a small living room with couch & TV, then bedroom with bed & TV. Shower is just a stall. Numerous towels were a plus but they didn't get them all when they cleaned and didn't empty all the trash - a very minor complaint. The continental breakfast offerings were very limited (powdered creme for coffee, canned-tasting orange juice in the land of fresh oranges, "restaurant" bread for toasting) but it's a nice offering if you're on a very tight budget. No problems with reservations or checking in and out. We would def. stay here again, very reasonably priced.
First of all we read about this hotel only from the 5 reviewes on this site so we were a littel scared about what we were going to find. But for our surprise we found a lovely hotel that provide us all we need.
We stayed at the Pico Travelodge on April 12,13,14/04. We were two couples travelling together. We booked our rooms on line, and they were prepaid and we had no problems checking in. Our friend's room was located off the nice gated courtyard, ours was in the main building off the lobby. After we looked at both rooms we asked if we could have one off the courtyard too, they were only too happy to accomodate us. They didn't have any kingbed rooms left but I was more then happy with the queenbed room. The rooms have all been recently renovated and are very nicely decorated, we even had a kitchen area, with a fridge, micowave, sink etc. Very bright and very clean. The court yard area with BBQ's is a great place to relax. Parking was free, and the continental breakfast was basic but very tasty, and at the great price of this hotel, you can't complain. I would stay here again and would reccomend this hotel to my friends. The location is great if you have a car. If your not on a budget you might want to stay right on the beach.
I stayed in Santa Monica Pico Blvd. Hotel for 3 days. I booked it online after a very long search and I am verry happy with the result.
Great value for mone, loved it.
Behind the unimpressive exteriors, this place has well appointed rooms. Furniture, sheets etc are of decent quality. What's most impressive is the cleanliness. Everything is sparkling and shining clean. Most rooms have a cute kitchentte attached. Parking is ample & free. Continental breakfast served is simple but tasty. Though it's not bang on the beach, it's just a few minutes' drive along uncrowded roads. Easy access to Airpoirt, 3rd Street, Hollywood etc. Close to good resturaunts as well as fast food joints. Not luxurious, but very comfortable and convenient. I will definitely stay there again, if I ever go back to LA.
What an Improvement!
This renovated hotel is an excellent value! My wife and I have been going to this property for years. We often eat at Valintino's which is directly across the street. The hotel's been renovated with everything new, including free BBQ's in the courtyard. Price of the room included continental breakfast. Our room was spotlessly clean and the hotel staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
Good budget choice
I stayed here in May 2000 for two nights.I found it clean, quiet and if you have transport, location isn't a problem.
They provide a good continental style breakfast (inclusive with room price) and best of all, they let us check-in at 9am after an all night flight from New Zealand ~ it was a bonus not having to pay for an extra day or wait till the 3pm check-in.
