... today and read and tried, unsuccessfully, to nap! Early evening brought welcome overcast skies! Still warm, but a bit of a reprieve. Around 10 pm someone outside either shoot a gun or large firecracker, very close to our house---and Elly came in like a shot, looking scared and ran to my lap! 2 more shots and it was over, whatever it was. ... An elementary school for breakfast?! That's right. A hotel chain renovated the once-abandoned school (originally built in 1915) and turned it into a fairly unique establishment. They have guestrooms fashioned from former classrooms complete with original chalkboards, a restaurant, multiple small bars, a movie theater, soaking pool, and a brewery. It was pretty cool.
