      ... it seems we can still ride our bikes reasonably well and we banged out a seventy mile out and back from the campground to Big Sur along Highway 1 - the scenic coastal highway - meeting 11 cycle tourers (the same as on the entire Divide route) who were completing all or part of the Pacific Coast tour from Canada to Mexico. We thought we had rented an economy car for USD 16 per day and we ended up paying USD 30 per day.
