... We had lunch and rode the Trolley through the centre. It really was lovely with open space and grassy areas. There are dogs everywhere and they are welcome everywhere. There was a golden retriever in our restaurant, a Maltese in the laundromat and our hotel offers pet meals for in room dining!! We then took a drive to Rodeo Drive - was lovely there but strictly ...

... I was very surprised, given I had used factor 30+.

For dinner Peter and I had joined the Director Mark and his Wife Anne Bryce for dinner at a lovely restaurant in Beverly Hills. Where we enjoyed some beautiful eye fillet steaks. The evening was completed when we returned to The Beverly Hills Hotel to enjoy a chocolate soufflé and a Café Latte.

It was also odd to chat to family on whats app and facebook we'd gone from so far ahead to far behind and we're all out of sync in an even more confusing way!

On landing we took a bus, then subway then walked to our Motel, about half way between Downtown and Hollywood. The first and most obvious thing to learn is that LA is MASSIVE. ...

... comfortable - which was just as well, considering we were due to spend the best part of 36 hours in it. Leaving Los Angeles on the ground, you realise just how spread out the city is. For quite some time, the train headed through suburbia. It was quite a while until the houses ended and we moved out into the countryside. Our first meal on the train was lunch, and it was here we found out the Amtrak seating arrangements and the joys of communal dining. ...

We arrived home and friends picked us up. It is good to be home but we are so tired and wound up from the flight. It will be good to sleep in our own bed and see Bambi, our dog.
