Travelodge Lake Havasu City

If you are reading this, and we warned you not to, here is why....

When we left the Grand Canyon we drove for a few hours that night and stayed in lovely Needles, California, right on the border of Arizona. So thats it, just where we slept for the night, before we headed up to Yosemite National Park.

We just wanted our map to be accurate, hence the reason for this post.

Enroute to Grand Canyon, we made a quick pit-stop at Lake Havasu City, to break the journey and to visit the original London Bridge. The City of London sold the bridge to the founder of Lake Havasu and it was dismantled in the UK and reassembled in the USA brick by brick. The bridge looks just like the one in London, just more pristine.

Urban legend has it that the silly American actually intended to purchase Tower Bridge, but thought that it was called London Bridge.

... most. Přehrada i hráz je nádherná – voda je sytě modrá (i když ne jak Mono Lake, taky tahle voda se mění na pitnou a zásobuje např. Vegas nebo LA) a na okolních skalách je vidět, jak je hlavina nízko. Světlá hráz tvoří krásnej kontrast. Procházíme po obou stranách, který znamenají dva státy – Nevadu a Arizonu, kocháme se pohledy do hluboké propasti pod náma a fotíme ...

It's 12:47 a.m., early Sunday morning.

My last day in the United States for 3 1/2 months! Tomorrow we leave for Mexico! I'll finally get to use my passport :) Our flight on AeroMexico leaves at 2:20 p.m. and we arrive in Mexico City around 9:30 p.m. From there, I will give abrazos (hugs) and besos (kisses) to my dear cast mates and depart for Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico! Yay :)

Today was also our last show day in the United States. It was our best show yet and I'm so proud ...

... to the cast
--organizing regional learning days in Veracruz
--promoting the show and fill the venue (which holds 4,000 people!)
--work with the government in Veracruz
--find host families for our awesome cast

I'm so excited to begin the internship and challenge myself in every way possible! I will miss the cast but am ready start another adventure :)

When we heard that there was a very small part of London in the middle of the Arizona desert, we had to check it out as it was only a small detour on the way to Vegas. When we arrived it was so hot that all we could manage was to find a motel. The official temperature was 116 degrees but our car hit 122 degrees!

After lunch, mom and I headed to see the world famous London Bridge. In 1968 Robert McCulloch, founder of Lake Havasu City, purchased the London Bridge. Since London Bridge was falling down :-) (actually it was sinking) the British was more than happy to sell the bridge for $2.46 million. Another unique note on the sale...to avoid property tax, the sale was conducted as an antique purchase ...

... of Pheonix using ancient map technolgy as the GPS does not want to pick up a fix. Finally out on route 10 heading to Havasu, more mountains and desert cactus. Stopping in Vicksburg at a flea market I buy a nice magnetic bracelet with turquoise stones, we have lunch and off we go again. Down the desert road we find a '90s Vanagon Westy stopped along the side. We stop to see if they are needing help. The drive down to Quartzsite is probably one of the most boring I've ever done on any travel - a very straight highway all the way down, hardly touching any pedal in the car. At Quartzsite (famous for selling gems and stuff), we took the 95 up to Parker (and its Dam on the Colorado River), and then on to Lake Havasu.
