We're in the quaint little town of Williams which is the sort of jump off point for the Grand Canyon excursions.The hotel we stayed in has the reputation of being the oldest hotel in Arizona.

... of desert on top. There was an old circular watchtower to go up and get an even higher view of the surrounds. It had ancient Indian paintings up the walls inside of the tower. With the first floor taking you to an outside platform, but there were a further 3 floors up within the tower. We went to the very top of the tower to fully appreciate the 360* surround sound view. It could be said that Lake Havasu is an oasis in the desert? ... well it is. It's a funny place .. but then any place that some guy with way to much money decides to buy a bridge from London, England and ship it brick by brick to a desert town to go over a lake ... has to be some what strange. Even funnier is the story behind the purchase ...

One stop we did make was in Saligman where 66 was Main Street and the town has a deep history in thriving when the Route was in its heyday and working even harder to survive and prosper after it's demise.
