    On our way to Galveston we got caught in traffic so we opted for an adventure in the form of a detour. What a surprising view. The Gulf roughly lapping the shores; beautiful homes on stilts, pastel colors of beach community homes were easy on the eye. I wish more of them were caught in pictures.     ... The Gulf water is muddy at the point, and the beach did not look terribly appealing. This part of the Gulf is vacation cottage country, with cottages as well as some very large houses all built up on stilts, and we are talking about 10 FT stilts, not just foundation posts.
