There are many reasons I love Death Valley but here are my top 8.
1. Badwater Basin

Now here is the explanation.
We have driven over three thousand miles now. The last week has been fabulous with a drive through Utah's Valley of the Gods and Monument Valley, and a day boating on Lake Powell, fully 15 minutes after the Govenor of Utah signed up to underwrite the wages for the park rangers. We were the first ( and only boat ) in two weeks on the lake.
