Had a perfect travel day yesterday. Actually got away early, 8:45, and had beautiful cold clear weather all day. It was only once we got close to Portland that we saw any snow at all and there it was only deep in the bush. But shortly after we stopped for the night the snow started. It looks like we got about 3" overnight. Luckily we're heading south! Had great Chinese food last night. Who knew we'd find it in Maine! Here's what morning looked like - winter ...

Silence. oh hang on, whats that.... far in the distance, behind all the buildings? That'd be the fireworks I am guessing.....!!!! Not quite the midnight we expected, but that's ok..... we were together in Boston and and that's all that is important ...

It was cold - about minus 7 - so we were going into many shops just to warm up! When I saw a cheese shop that had samples it was like a dream!! The cheese was all made in Vermont and was delicious. We got talking to the lady about how we'd been hoping to see snow . She suggested if we drive inland about ...

... wasn't in a cupboard!! ********* A common thing we hear when ordering meals is 'What would you like for your starch?' Specifically.... would you like fries / potato etc. we all need our starch! *************** Road trip things.... We saw a 'watch for moose' sign! This highway speed was r75 mph .... with a minimum speed of 45mph!! Never seen a minimum speed before! Largest signs we saw were NOT the signs to exit the freeway.... but exits to buy lottery ...

... Brown Harbor Real Ale was unlike any beer I have ever tasted. It had quite the festival spunk to it. This one was a light ale but very cinnamon tasting, a great Christmas feel. Lastly was Gearys Hampshire Special Ale. At first I wasn’t a fan of this as I took my first couple sips. As I received my meal I enjoyed it a lot more. It was remarkably better with food than by itself.

The meal I ordered here was one of the ...
