waling up the HUGE hill to Alcatraz was a struggle but we all made it, audio tours were given out with headphones and then you were left to wander around the island. we spent 3 hours around the island then caught the ferry back to San Francisco.
When we arrived back at the wharf we walked around Fisherman's Wharf and did some shopping, then we walked back around tot he hotel to wit for our tour around the city.
... condo was on the second floor of the building and had an upstairs master suite. Everything was clean and up-to-date. We had a tiny problem with ants showing up but just a couple. The grounds were well taken care of and the staff was very nice and helpful. I thought their idea to put cards with suggestions on what to do in the area by the staff was a good one. I wonder if they have a little competition with a prize to see ...
Back on the road again, with lots to see!
We left Atascadero and headed up the 1 along the coast. This is a slow road with lots of corners- great fun in a fast car, and OK fun in the camper.

... along the eastern waterfront of San Francisco Bay. It was wonderful seeing the pubic artwork (especially Cupid's Span in Rincon Park), looking under the Bay Bridge (between San Francisco 'Downtown' and Yerba Buena Island) and wandering onto the many old and new (some renovated) piers.

After the Pub the ride home. Remember I said the walk to the Muni was six blocks downhill to our bus stop. Well what goes down must go up in San Francisco. It was a tough climb home uphill after a very busy Day 1.
