We started the day early with a one hour helicopter flight over Glacier and Waterton Lakes National Park. It was an amazing private flight that allowed us some unprecedented views of the remaining glaciers within the park. Our pilot, Joe, was a wealth of information and explained the geography and history of the region while also showing us 18 glaciers, numerous lakes, and ...

... early so I could have an ice cream.

After riding to Longview, I turned south on Highway 22, also called The Cowboy Trail. Let's see if we can spot a cowboy hat...

One could do a huckleberry tour around here and it would take weeks if not ...

... mile trail around the lake, watching out for bears as we saw their scats and a place where a bear might have slept. Drove down the dirt road along Lower St Mary Lake and I saw a large grisly bear at the edge of the road - disappeared quickly into the bushes. Stopped at the St Mary Visitor Centre to find out about the shuttle buses as we are too long to drive the most famous Going-to-the-Sun road west tomorrow. Back to a much cheaper bush campground near ...

Had long chats with friendly "Talker Stalkers" today before we left camp. Drove down a beautiful pine forest valley then across the farmland valley to Belt. Across more flat farmland and into Great Falls. First stop for lunch overlooking Rainbow Falls on the Missouri River, one of five falls (one now under the water of Rainbow Dam) at Great Falls.

Then looked at Giant Springs - hot springs bubbling up into a green pool and ...
