The tree is estimated to be 2,200 years old; stands at 275 feet tall; trunk weighs an estimated 1,385 tons; circumference at the ground is nearly 103 feet. Its largest branch is almost seven feet in diameter. Every year the General Sherman grows enough new wood to make a 60 foot tall tree of usual proportions.
