... separated and sent to Los Alamos in early 1945. B reactor plutonium was used in the Trinity test and the bomb dropped on Nagasaki Japan. It was the first of 9 reactors at the Hanford site. It was permanently shut down in February of 1968. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in August of 2008. After considerable clean-up work it was opened as a museum.
