We spent 2 days in Iron Mountain, Michigan. It is a nice little town with connections to Henry Ford, lumber for transporting cars and Kingsford, charcoal. The town is really split in 2, Iron Mountain and Kingsford with the total population of 16,000. We went to Pine Mountain Ski jump and hiked up the 500 stairs. It was a nice stress test!! The ski jump is one of the largest artificial ski jumps in the USA.

... always loved the fall, but add the yellows, oranges, red's and greens and it really brings tears to your eyes. The joy of walking in the woods this time of year is totally magical.

So, for my sister Sandra - we took WI 32 North to Eagle River. East on 70 to 139 and when we crossed the border in Michigan it changed to 189. East on MI 424 passed George Youngs Golf Course and right on Pentoga Road.

It may have rained a bit during the night, but I woke to sunny skies, absolutely clear. This was not the forecast, which was one reason I was so happy to have had a place to sleep indoors last night. I woke before my alarm, looked outside, packed as fast as I could, wolfed down some cookies and a banana, and I was on the road in 20 minutes.
