After a hearty American breakfast, Bruce & MJ took us on a trip to the north end of the island to the Barnegat lighthouse. It is no longer in operation but still very much an icon of "The Shore"..

Great BBQ dinner and nice wine to finish off the day. ...

We leftAlexandria and drove to Lancaster, OldestTown in the USA. We stayed in Lancaster. not the best hotel I ever stayed in, but not the worst! bed was hard but clean etc. Another glorious day. Being Sunday of course, nothing was open. We went to an Amish Village (farm) where we could ask loads of questions. Saw many Amish driving along in their buggies. Was funny to see parking bays outside a bank that were horse stalls with signs that say "customer parking ...

... headed northeast on PA Route 414. This route takes you through state forest and runs along Pine Creek. There are miles of rolling hills with twists and turns. The scenery is top notch and a lovely bike trail parallels some sections of the road. About midway on Rt 414 is the tiny and charming village of Cedar Run. There are a few lodges here and a great country store.

Continuing we stopped for lunch at the ...
