    Final tastings

Only visited 3 wineries today. I'm done with that for a while! Scott Harvey winery was fun. Good wines and food. Liked to talk to Scott about his business. It really was a bittersweet time without mom. Missed her presence so. But I have to face these " first" times where I'm ...

Sorry I missed a day. Friday was quite the day of traveling around to various wineries. Ami and Jeff flew in early in the morning to Sacramento and then drove up to Plymouth to join Karen Tom and me for a day of touring various wineries. At the end of our visit there one of the people in the tasting room that we ...

Simon went off at the crack of dawn to go white water rafting. We had something of a slower start thanks to a blocked loo (nice wedding anniversary present for us to sort). We set off for Calaveras Big Trees park which turned out to be double the drive we expected (1.5 hours not 45 mins). The forecast blast from Alaska has started to come in so it's getting a bit chilly. We followed the North Grove trail with a diversion to ...

... famous. The pine, cedar, oak and giant sequoias trees tower through the park making for photo opportunities on every corner.

The Hawkins family and their friends have given us a once in a lifetime experience to live and breathe like an American. We have learnt and understood more about the culture and their beliefs than we could have possibly imagined. Views, beliefs, right and wrong, acceptable or not will always divide any nation from either side of the political and ...
