Cindy and I headed out for three nights in Lake Havasu, AZ on Saturday. Chris and Stephanie planned to go with us, but were delayed by a day because of a relative's surprise birthday party. The three hour drive to Lake Havasu was extended by a stop for lunch in Searchlight, and by a train at the grade-level railroad crossing north of the I-40 connection. We arrived in Lake Havasu State Park about ...

... be compared with that downhill fate? The thing that put Lake Havasu on the map is that in the 1950's, an oil tycoon bought our very own London Bridge at auction, for around two and a half million pounds, brought it all the way over to the far side of the United States of America and had it reconstructed over the Colarado River. It’s a concrete arch-gravity dam that straddles California and Arizona over the Colorado River, and is the deepest dam in the world (235 ft of its 320 ft is below the riverbed). The Hoover Dam is 155 miles upstream.

Leaving Parker Dam, we came across a ...

... boat launch at the other end. Roger loves watching boats, which is funny because he doesn’t care to be on them. The boat launch is extra special because it has boats, AND people backing up trailers (another thing he loves to watch). :oP

Birds – some mornings, we wake up to the sound of birds tap-dancing on our roof. It makes me giggle ... as long as it’s after 7:30. Earlier and I’d be out there chucking rocks. LOL. Not ...

... by the time I was offered it, I was already there. Plus, all I really wanted to see was Vegas, so I went on. We first went to Walmart! It was AWESOME! The portions were huge and cheap. Check out the massive bottle of rum I took a photo of for $20. I tried buying raspberry vodka but got ID checked. D: The day continued on to the Great Western Highway and surged through the desert. The desert is just like the movies and incredibly vast ...
