... lunch.  After lunch, Monti and Janet did some shopping while I ran a few errands and filled the truck with gas.  By six, everyone was back at camp and we were ready to head up to the channel to get a close-up view of the second night of the parade.  The weather was perfect, with highs around 75 dropping off to the upper 60's by the time the parade started.  We watched the floats come by, then ...

Tuesday we visited the Lake Havasu City Museum where we learned about Jim McCullough and his Disney partner planning and populating the city almost single handedly. Good work guys. It’s too bad we lost Jim in 1977 before it really took off. ...

Camping in the desert next to Colorado River

... out there is a second resort called "Pirates Den" 1.5 hrs further up the river, which I had mistakenly booked instead of "the Cove"! Anyway, they had space for us and we couldn't face another 1.5 hrs driving, so we settled in next to our private beach on the river. It was beautiful - incredibly hot, with a dry desert breeze, but next to the wide, cool river. It became apparent that it was a popular spot with local "RV-ers", ...
