... going to be late for Josh to get to work, so we tried our hand at hitch hiking. A nice man picked us up and took us back to the hostel, and Josh got to work on time. I met two girls from the UK that day, Lucy and Clare. We went back to the hot springs with some cider, since it was Lucy's 26th birthday. Then we came back, ate cake, and watched a couple of movies, including The Dark Night Rises, which was great.

Unfortunately time to hit the road again after a brief visit to Wellington. Next stop Tongariro National Park home of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Tongariro and Mt Ngauruhoe (or for those who prefer an easier to pronounce name AND a popular culture reference... Mount Doom.) A travel blog entry by elliotgamble on Mar 14, 2014

7 in the morning. No sleep. Going to somewhere we didn't want to go. It was a groggy morning. I wish we were flying straight to Bali. Instead we have to go to Brisbane spend a night then get another flight the next day. So pointless. Sarah and I were so knackered that we slept the whole way to Brisbane. This still wasn't enough sleep. I wish the flight was longer just so I could have kept my head down With time difference we arrived at Brisbane at 8 in the morning. All ...

... convenient for getting into town and best of all it was free! Sure, the facilties were basic - a couple of drop toilets, but for the price, we really couldn't complain for a long weekend.
We set up camp and proceeded to make a plan for the rest of the weekend. Last time Jimmy had been in Taupo, he had done some white water rafting, which he had recommended back in Auckland. I love rafting, so was really keen for ...
