    Ocean View Accommodation

The Wayside Inn is a three-story structure across the road from the beach and ocean. Our second-floor room had a nice ocean view, a flip-switch fireplace on the wall, and a small balcony. The room was clean, beds comfortable, and soft fluffy towels. There is no elevator, so travel light! This is not a B&B but is conveniently located close to dining establishments.

    Nice place.

Enjoyed staying at The Wayside Inn. The owners were always very accommodating with our needs. The rooms were clean and nice. The only drawback is that there is no elevator and we were on the third floor. They are across the street from the beach and a nice park where kids can play and one can walk their dogs and very close to restaurants in Cannon Beach.

We are in Astoria, OR and planning to go down the coast over the next few days. Tonight we went to a brew pub and I had a delicious Greek garden pizza and sampled 3 types of their pale ales. While not a beer drinker I thought it would be fun to try a sampler and they were good with the pizza. After dinner I heard seals and ...

We left Astoria and headed south in HWY 101 South. We stopped in Cannon Beach - an quaint little seaside town. It has amazing beaches much like Tofino on Vancouver Island. The weather has been getting even better as we head south. Full steam ahead! Well sort of - we are stopping to take pictures and see all we can. Garibaldi is another beautiful seaside town worth a visit. Next ...

The four of us took one jeep and headed up toward Hug State Park---Tide Pool Hunting. Three were enthusiastic and one did NOT want to go; BUT after going was glad he went as some neat stuff (yes, I KNOW Bonna told me that).

Just above the beach level was an old wagon road that had been used at low tide ...

... wild flowers along the road. Odd rocks stick up out of the ocean and you can't help but wonder, why there?
A friend told us to stop at Cannon Beach-two nights have become three as it is a great spot. The 80 degree temps help and I will be sorry to leave in the morning. We will have a lot of places to return to when we finish this trip!
I am still not sure about listening to Andy's iTunes in order. Tomorrow, I think I will insist on an audio book!

We cleaned up after the meal and at about eight went to a friend of Lisa and Rich's, Bryan, and sat by his fire and visited. He's a powerline inspector for PPL and is based out of Oregon. He's fortunate in that he can stay here and work out in the area nearby. He's an avid fisherman and comes here regularly with his wife. Last week ...
