      Ocean View Accommodation

The Wayside Inn is a three-story structure across the road from the beach and ocean. Our second-floor room had a nice ocean view, a flip-switch fireplace on the wall, and a small balcony. The room was clean, beds comfortable, and soft fluffy towels. There is no elevator, so travel light! This is not a B&B but is conveniently located close to dining establishments.

Enjoyed staying at The Wayside Inn. The owners were always very accommodating with our needs. The rooms were clean and nice. The only drawback is that there is no elevator and we were on the third floor. They are across the street from the beach and a nice park where kids can play and one can walk their dogs and very close to restaurants in Cannon Beach.

No, I am not talking about the book "Fifty Shades of Grey" but I did get your attention! Perhaps it was only 25 shades of gray due to the foggy conditions as we checked out of the Staybridge Inn in Portland, drove north and then east towards Astoria. (Astoria is the oldest city west of the Rockies. It is named for John Jacob Astor, owner of the …

The weather gods must have been fast asleep when I prayed for blue skies on our last day of coastal photography. Here I am still in bed, early morn and dreaming about that perfect picture of Haystack, low tide, puffins and starfish everywhere. Perhaps even a darling kid, dog and dad running down the beach with a colorful kite unfurling over the …

Heavy fog greeted us when we drew back the curtains and peered at the seascape across from our inn in Cannon Beach. But, being from Texas, we don't complain about rain predictions! We headed for Pig'N Pancake where we planned our day at a round table loaded with friends and ...pancakes! Fortified, our first vista to enjoy was two miles north of …

We are in Astoria, OR and planning to go down the coast over the next few days. Tonight we went to a brew pub and I had a delicious Greek garden pizza and sampled 3 types of their pale ales. While not a beer drinker I thought it would be fun to try a sampler and they were good with the pizza. After dinner I heard seals and ...

We left Astoria and headed south in HWY 101 South. We stopped in Cannon Beach - an quaint little seaside town. It has amazing beaches much like Tofino on Vancouver Island. The weather has been getting even better as we head south. Full steam ahead! Well sort of - we are stopping to take pictures and see all we can. Garibaldi is another beautiful seaside town worth a visit. Next ...
