I had promised Alex a day without travel, so we took it here in the Groton/New London area.

I let him sleep as late as he wanted, which was about 9 (we hadn't turned the lights out the night before until about 11 - so much for his "regular" 8:30 bedtime), then we slowly got up and around.

We had breakfast at a Dunkin Donuts store, at this was only unusual in that they seem to be as common ...

s/v Vagabond left the Harbor of Refuge at 0 dark 30 for her overnight sail to Block Island. Admirals Mary and Sue kept a close eye on their progress up the coast via a website found by Mary ~ vesselfinder.com. They also kept a close eye on the storms roaring up the east coast via wunderground.com, Sue was keeping her rose colored glasses on while Mary was getting ready to call the Coast Guard when the AIS signal was lost as ...

We arrived to the sleepy fishing town of Mystic early evening and after settling in at our motel we walked to the historic centre. Having been in NYC and Boston prior to this, Mystic's tranquility was very accommodating and as we wondered along the riverside encountering a few seafood shacks on the way the sunset was mesmerising. The sky's rapidly changing colour was having a humbling effect on the crystal river water and made for ...
