    A Big Surprise

A travel blog entry by judyinocala on Oct 09, 2014

St. John Lutheran Church - Ocala, FL This Sunday morning started out like any other Sunday morning, except that Bailey, Rachel, Sydney, and Audrey were with us. They were here for Florida Adventure Camp VII. We had planned to go to church and Sunday school, and then have lunch with Diane who was driving up from Tampa. The afternoon was rather loosely planned around Diane directing the decorating of FAC T-shirts, a trip to Publix for reinforcement, and making hobo dinners in the ...

... along the river. When we got into the water it was freezing. A guy had mentioned to us that it was probably around 71 degrees (f) I'm the springs but most likely 10 or so degrees warmer in the river. Lewis had not seen either of them since he was a young child, and I had never met them before at all. I was nervous because we were descending on the home of two strangers, and I didn’t know what to expect, or if they would like us. We arrived just before sunset on ...

... picked the girls up and started out on our annual trip to the town of Micanopy. Kristy took us there several years ago and ever since we can't visit Ocala without spending a day in Micanopy, about an hour north. It is Jeff's favorite place; there is an old southern home with porches all the way around and rocking chairs on the porches that he loves. Each year on the way Jeff says if the house is for sale he's going to buy it and we'll live in ...

    Naked Ed and Chinese Poachers

... Orlando sprawl in their nondescript concrete splendor.

While hopping around the world, I like to arrive somewhere I have never heard of and see what interesting things I can learn about the place. I don't have much to report from here other than Naked Ed. Our kayak rental came complete with a warning about a loincloth clad recluse and we were even shown laminated 8.5"x11" pictorial proof of the dude in near naked repose. I am ...
