The town wanted to build a larger facility but could not get the jays franchise to contribute any money into the project threatening, even at that time to head to Phoenix! and the smaller town was stretched to its limits so could only build the present stadium seating just over 5000 seats...they are sold out most spring training seats ...but in talking to many visitors who can't get ...

Our destination Monday was to travel into Tampa Bay for an evening hockey game. Left our apt. By 2pm and found ourselves in the heart of downtown very quickly so made a quick decision to hike over to the TB History center . It was wonderfully informative on the history and settling of the city and the surrounding area. The Indians were here when the first invasions from the Spanish occurred in the 1500 s and still much later ...

... the waterfront/shops. Denise brought fudge. This towns claim to fame is sponges. It is known as the sponge capital of the world and apparently provides 70% of the sponges sold around the world. We did a short boat tour and got the history of sponge diving and experienced how they are harvested.

Even going to St. Augustine a day early. we could not escape the cold.

... off cannons at 12pm every day. We didn't stay the night there we kept driving to Ginnie Springs, it is so beautiful there we hired tubes and floated out of the springs and down the river, we camped here the night next to the river, there was no one around it was very beautiful. Today we drove to Tampa, we are staying here for 3 nights. Tomorrow we are going to the theme park here, it's suppose to be really cool.
