... They are cut into dark chocolate brown stone up to about five feet in height. The lighter the newer the cuttings as we learned. Originally the area was a peninsula jutting out into a prehistoric lake dated back to about 12, 000 years ago. I got a few pictures which will appear on Flickr when I get them editted.

Before arriving in Fallon, we passed their Naval Air Station. There are three bomb ranges ...

I awoke this morning at 5am and looked out our room's window on the 18th floor to see beautiful white mountains. Took my shower got dressed and enjoyed a nice cup of hot coffee while waiting for Dave and Elisa to wake up.
Around 7:00am Dave and Elisa woke up and rolled out of bed about hour later. We all admired the morning view with all the snow on the mountains.
After we all were dressed we went to venture out to find a restaurant here ...

We stopped at the Jelly Belly factory for a free tour and some samples, much to Aussie Jan's horror as she likes to be very healthy. Then we stopped for lunch at a historic gold mine in Placerville.
Lake Tahoe is absolutely stunning. It is a large lake surrounded by hills covered in Douglas fir and pine trees, which is partly in California and partly in Nevada. We stayed on the east side in Nevada.. Our campsite was lovely in that it was surrounded by tall trees, but it was small ...
