        ... great) grandparents’ old homesteads, and graveyards. Tour guide,
        brother Wilbur provided transportation and commentary. In Iowa Falls, we enjoyed pork tenderloin sandwiches and malteds in the 100-year successful Princess Café and Pizzeria, which features the longest soda fountain (made of Italian marble!) in the United States!

        Observation: Sadly,
        some places can only be found in one’s memory, they are gone ...

        ... towns of Duncombe, Webster City, Boondocks (yes, really!), Williams, Alden, and Buckeye waiting.

        One of the milestones on the route was going under I-35 (which goes from Des Moines up to Minneapolis); this is typically considered about the halfway point across from Iowa, so we had the false sense of being half-done.

        We also encountered our only real traffic jam of the week. The Iowa DOT ...

Or rather RESIGNED the position. Too stressful to read the map and make a decision in 60 sec when he hadn't even paid any attention to the map.         Spent last night in Eucha, Oklahoma with Linda and Earl. Linda and I were stationed on Okinawa together. It was great to catch up.
