... up and it was smooth sailing.......or so we thought. It got colder and the wind was increasing as we went. Thank goodness my bike is big and heavy. It took the wind well, but it was slow going. We had hoped to get to Sioux City, but only made it to Fort Dodge. About 125 miles short of the plan.
Tomorrow we hope to ride about 450-500 miles if we can.
... invited me and two other guys in line over to her house across the street to use her shower. (We confirmed that she was really sure ... and she noted that she and her husband were more than happy to let us use it.) Their house was a beautiful old house. The husband was an engineer at the nearby ethanol plant, and they had 2 friendly kids and 2 BIG dogs .... and got to enjoy a wonderful warm shower. Friendly Iowans at their finest!
Drove to Story City, Iowa today. The weather was not good today, in fact we drove through pour down rain for about 1 1/2 hrs as we passed through Kansas City and northward. The campground was wet from all the rain and not as pretty as it was the last time we stayed here 4 years ago. Smokey hasn't been sleeping well and has been crying during the night. I guess it is too much going on for him. Needless to say, we haven't been sleeping too ...
... Dakota because it was to far from the ocean for the soviet warships to attack. And if activated only took 30 minutes over the North Pole to hit Russia. Next stop Missouri River and in to Iowa. That was yesterday. Today was catching up with Marit and Richard having a tour of Iowa State Uni. Tomorrow ...
... and it was a pleasant drive overall.
Somewhere midway into South Dakota the landscape started changing slowly and a couple of hills appeared on the plains. We also crossed the Missouri River which is MASSIVE. Bikers and bikes were prominent in South Dakota.
We reached bad lands around 7pm. Our halt was the cedar pass campground. First ...
