Today was a great day. I was shooting for Flora Illinois and had no intention of riding the 150 miles to Indiana. For the first time in 2 weeks I had good riding conditions. When I started riding from Caseyville this morning it was calm and about 75 degrees out. By lunch time there was a light wind at my back and it had gotten even cooler. I am finished reading the international travel handbook and have taken the quiz. I checked out what to wear and now need to go shopping because I don't want to be perceived as rude by wearing jeans or shorts while in Thailand. I am getting more and more excited about the trip and looking for things like gender roles while I am there, but I am also getting nervous because Thailand is one of three or four countries that imposes the death penalty for drug smuggling ...

... about where i am going to and what is planned for the next week or two, makes me think of home and that i would quite actually like to be back home now with my friends and family. Whilst sat on the back of the bus all hot and sweaty, i have emailed a hostel i was originally staying in Chicago to see if they could put me up earlier than planned. Thankfully they replied in no time at all to say no problems ma'am we can do that (oooh that American can ...
