This is a great Super 8, easily accessible from I80 on the westt side of Des Moines - a little tired, but the rooms are large, well furnished, and the price (with a discount coupon) was right!. Having a fridge and microwave is an added bonus, as was the pool. The breakfast was very basic.

T-minus 3 days to departure and the reality of traveling to another continent for over a month is starting to set in.

Things I have yet to do:

    • Get malaria prophylaxis and travelers diarrhea medication
    • Find a carry-on that fits British Airways size dimensions
    • Get beach bod ready (lolz)
    • Tie up all 1 million loose ends before I leave
    Sounds reasonable.

... coming back. I stop at a rest stop called Ortonville which does not seem to be a town. It was over 80 years ago and was the wintering grounds for the largest wagon circus in the Midwest. It lasted for 66 years until the market crash of 1929. Now you have your trivia for the day. Overall a pleasant day so enjoy the ...

Ok, we got started on the bean field yesterday afternoon, but we still had almost half the field to finish with rain coming in tomorrow. Randy went to work today and I drove over to finish the field before the rain. With beans they pick up moisture over night and harvesting can not start until 11am depending on the sun, at least I got a little break. Things were very tough the night before ...
