Braving the approach of winter, we set out for Boise to pick up our custom made Motorhome slider. We stayed in Winnemucca the first night and then stayed in Jackpot with very few resources. On to Boise - the park was crowded. We got a tour of the factory and met very nice people - the custom slider was all we expected. Headed out for Bend, OR through winds and rain fell in Sisters where we ...

      Travel Day

We traveled north on US Rt. 395 out of Carson City and into California. After leaving the Reno area it was a short drive to the California border and the inspection station that everyone must stop at; we were asked if we had firewood or a watercraft, but were not asked about citrus fruit, so there was no delay. Continuing north on US Rt. 395 the drive was through the same type ...

... I wanted very much to see the creatures that had built it, but they must have been out shopping for a refrigerator or something.

Then it was 149 to Oroville, and 70 up into the hills, beside the North Fork River. I was listening to a new-to-me podcast, Slate.com's Lexicon Valley, in which they were discussing the etymology of the word "dude." (It's ever so much more interesting than you ...

... following day was a drive to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The visitor Center was open but roads were closed, due to snow. The VC film was excellent and explained the 4 types of volcanos in the park. We were able to walk a mile up the closed off road to the Sulphur Works and check out some geothermal activity. Tomorrow is Sunday and we may just hang out here, one more night than planned, and leave here on Monday. We may get to Oregon next move, maybe not.

      See Ya! Sierra ...
